I’m not quite sure why, but I’ve always loved the zombie genre. If you’ve never paid attention to it you might not realize it has quite a following. I tried to find a site to prove it but there are none… Regardless, there are plenty of other interesting sites to checkout. The latter of those two links is my inspiration for writing this entry. I found David Wellington’s site over a year ago when he only had Monster Island written. Monster Island is no longer available online as it has been printed into hard copy and is now for sale, but his other two serial novels, Monster Nation and Monster Planet, are still available for free online. They are great time killers.

I thought the idea of writing a serial novel would be exciting. The topic of zombies is not too demanding and it just so happens my enjoyment for the movies has caused me to think about it enough that I may just have something worth writing about. My first attempt at writing anything fictional came after I read J.R.R Tolkien’s, The Hobbit and became addicted to the fantasy card game Magic: The Gathering. I ended up scrawling some 70+ pages of fantasy fiction across lined paper during my 6th grade classes. I had one devoted reader who was interested enough to read through every page of one short and one much larger and unfinished story.

It was fun just to write and not be concerned about how horrible it read… I wonder now whether I could do the same with this story. It takes a certain fearlessness that I have somehow lost since then and now to do so. The same concern has crept into my hobby of drawing as well. Perfection, or the ideal, has become a hindrance and not a driving force for me. None the less my reason for reviving this blog is akin to my desire to write this serial. I’m only here to improve that part of me that wants to put thought to paper, to craft lines of clarity not wrought with my usual misspellings and undeveloped thought. I figure here both can be done at once. In fact I’ve already set apart a category, one with no certain title yet, so that I can offer up my own zombie serial novel. Mostly for myself, but also to whoever else might enjoy the two-fold adventure.
