So my car continues to fall apart. If cars could get diseases mine would have an advanced case of aids and its immune system would be shutting down. Maybe that’s a bit extreme, but seriously, so much has gone wrong in the past two months that by the end of it all I will have spent more money on repairs than what I still owe my brother and sister for the purchase…

I had my car towed on Sunday when it wouldn’t start, again. My last investment was a rebuilt starter, now it is the neutral safety switch. I had my fingers crossed for a cheap fix. After researching the part it didn’t seem too complicated or involved. It mounts on the transmission and is even adjustable in some cases. My hopes were up! Alas, my fingers brought no such luck. The mechanic called to tell me this would be another couple hundred dollars to fix. Suprised and very disappointed I called up NAPA and a Lincoln dealer to get the price for this part, just in case of some shenanigans on the part of the mechanics. The Lincoln representative set the phone down to look up the part and shortly after I heard him from a distance say ‘Wow!’. He came back and told me the piece was $150 and that it must have gone up in the past few years because he had never seen it so high.

I was actually relieved by this. I really want to find an honest and reliable garage around here. I’ve been through three. This one comes highly recommended from CarTalk.com. I like the owner and the service has been fair so far (even though I had to wait until Friday for the repair. Next on the list are my breaks and radiator…
